Happy New Year 2012

Today (Saturday, 31 December 2011), is the last day of 2011 and tomorrow we are going to enter the New Year 2012. For me the changing year is not really special to be celebrated. During my life, 19 years in my home country, our parents always got us new things such as new clothes, new shoes, new bags, new accessories, or things that we like at the last day of the year. Thus, I thought that New Year meant you should get new things, or in other word everything is new. However, since I came to Korea, at my first experience of New Year 2009 I realized that on the first day of the year, January 1st, is just the same day as the last day before it which is December 31st. Whenever I celebrate it or not and whether I get new stuffs or not, I feel that the day is just the same as common day.

However, I like New Years’ day. Good thing to see on the New Year's day is fireworks. Also, all that I like about the New Year is “TOGETHERNESS”, not the New Year itself. In my home country on New Year, every family gathers together doing party or going picnic to the beach. My family actually doesn't do any party, and never do it. What we do is going picnic to the beach on the 1st January. When we go to the beach, we do barbecue there, play game together, talking, swimming, and taking photos. (I think my family will go picnic tomorrow without me L).

So, today I really want to go to have some delicious food, something that similar to Timorese food, maybe Brazilian food. After that I want to spend the whole day with my boyfriend, because after that day I will leave Korea to spend my winter vacation in Bali Indonesia with my sister and East Timor with my family.
